AeroSonics, Inc. was established in the Spring of 1989.The original plan focused on supplying products for the metropolitan Chicago market only. Quickly, the demand for the company's product overtook the available production space and all operations were moved to larger facilities.Sales activity soon spread to neighboring states and within a few short months representatives from coast to coast were selling AeroSonics products. Continued growth created a need for even more production space, prompting the company to purchase seven acres at its current location, California, Missouri in June 1993. The original building was expanded in September 1996, providing 43,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space. There is room to expand the facility to nearly 160,000 square feet. On April 1, 2000, the company was acquired by Smiths Industries, a London based conglomerate that also owns TUTCO, Inc, the world's largest manufacturer of electric heating elements. AeroSonics is now organized as a subsidiary of TUTCO, Inc. The AeroSonics sound control products and air louvers and dampers are manufactured under the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local #2 union label.
